Seminar on Australian Practice: 04 September 2025
The BAETE successfully hosted a high-impact seminar titled “National Competency Standard for Engineering in the Context of Accreditation and Credentialing: Australian Practice” at 05:00 PM on Thursday, 04 September 2025, at the Seminar Room, Old Building, IEB Headquarters, Ramna, Dhaka. The seminar played a significant role in strengthening understanding of internationally recognized accreditation and credentialing frameworks, with particular emphasis on best practices followed in Australia.
Dr. Zubair Syed, Head of Credentials at Engineers Australia, delivered the keynote address as the resource person, sharing valuable insights into competency-based standards, professional recognition, and alignment with global accreditation norms. His expert perspectives provided practical guidance for enhancing the robustness and international comparability of accreditation systems in Bangladesh.
The seminar was attended by 52 participants, including BAETE Board Members, members of the Quality Assurance Cell (QAC) and Sectoral Committees (SC), senior members of Evaluation Teams (ET), and industry representatives. The diverse participation ensured rich interaction and knowledge exchange, reinforcing collaboration between academia, accreditation bodies, and industry.
Overall, the seminar made a notable and lasting impact by building institutional capacity, promoting international benchmarking, and supporting continuous improvement of engineering education accreditation and credentialing practices in the country.
