Seminar on GAPC Version 4: 03 September 2025
BAETE introduced Version 3 of its Accreditation Manual, effective from 01 July 2025, with a one-year transition (grace) period before becoming mandatory on 01 July 2026. As a full signatory of the Washington Accord since June 2023, BAETE is committed to maintaining alignment with international accreditation standards prescribed by the International Engineering Alliance (IEA).
In compliance with IEA requirements, BAETE has adopted Graduate Attributes and Professional Competencies (GAPC) Version 4 (2021), which has been fully incorporated into BAETE Manual Version 3. This revised framework places strong emphasis on professional competencies, ethics, inclusivity, sustainability, and lifelong learning, thereby aligning Bangladesh’s engineering education accreditation with emerging global standards.
To facilitate effective dissemination and understanding of these updates among key stakeholders, BAETE organized a seminar titled “Adaptation of Graduate Attributes and Professional Competencies (GAPC), Version 4 (2021): BAETE Manual Version 3” The seminar was held at the Seminar Room, Council Building, BUET, Dhaka-1000, from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM on Wednesday, 03 September 2025.
The seminar was delivered by Prof. Dr. A. S. M. A. Haseeb, Chair of the Taskforce for Development of Training Module for Program Evaluators of BAETE, who elaborated on the key changes, implications, and implementation strategies of GAPC Version 4 within the BAETE accreditation framework.
A total of 72 participants attended the seminar, including Vice Chancellors, Pro Vice Chancellors, Deans, Heads of Programs, Directors of IQAC, faculty members, and representatives from industry. The seminar provided an important platform for awareness-building, dialogue, and capacity development to support a smooth transition to BAETE Manual Version 3.
