Tier-1 Program Evaluators Training: 2025

In line with its mandate to ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement in engineering education, BAETE conducted three sessions of Hands-on Orientation for Tier-1 Program Evaluators at the ITN Seminar Room, ARI-ITN Building (5th Floor), BUET, Dhaka-1000. The training programs were organized from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM on the following dates:

• Session I: 22–23 August 2025
• Session II: 29–30 August 2025
• Session III: 19–20 September 2025

The primary objective of the Tier-1 training was to develop a pool of competent, ethical, and professionally trained evaluators capable of conducting accreditation assessments in accordance with BAETE standards, policies, and international best practices. The program emphasized outcome-based education, transparency in evaluation, and consistency in accreditation decisions.

A total of 144 participants, comprising 139 from academia and 5 from industry, successfully completed the training. Based on performance and suitability, selected participants will be nominated for Tier-2 Program Evaluators Training. Completion of both Tier-1 and Tier-2 training programs is mandatory to qualify as a BAETE Program Evaluator, ensuring a rigorous and structured pathway for evaluator development.

The training was conducted by experienced BAETE resource persons and was designed to provide both conceptual understanding and practical exposure through interactive discussions and hands-on exercises. The curriculum was structured around the following eight modules:

• Module 1: BAETE Accreditation Manual and Accreditation Policy
• Module 2: Accreditation Procedure
• Module 3: Quality, Professionalism, and Decorum of the Evaluation Team
• Module 4: Accreditation Criteria (1–9)
• Module 5: How to Study and Analyze the Self-Assessment Report (SAR)
• Module 6: Planning On-Site Visits, Triangulation, and Evaluation
• Module 7: Evaluating Attainment of Program Outcomes
• Module 8: Writing Effective Evaluation Team Reports

Overall, the Tier-1 Program Evaluators Training played a significant role in strengthening BAETE’s accreditation system by enhancing evaluator capacity, promoting uniformity in evaluation practices, and reinforcing a culture of quality assurance in higher engineering education institutions across Bangladesh.
