Prof. Dr. Engr. M. M. Shahidul Hassan

Dr. Hassan has an outstanding record of accomplishment in teaching, research, and consulting in electrical engineering. He is a gold medalist of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences and was an Associate Member of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) at Trieste, Italy. Prior to joining the East West University in 2015 as Vice Chancellor, he served in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), as a faculty member for about 38 years. During his service at BUET, he held many administrative positions and supervised PhD dissertations and masters’ theses. With a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University, United States, he has authored more than 70 research publications in reputed international journals such as IEEE Transaction in Electron Devices, Solid State Electronics, and the International Journal of Electronics.

Dr. Hassan was a professor at Multimedia University, Malaysia, and an associate professor at King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. He also taught courses as visiting professor at Clarkson in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. His current research interests are higher education and economic development in Bangladesh.

Dr. Hassan served on the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE) from 2009 to 2015 as Member Secretary. He was chairman of many visiting teams for accreditation of engineering programs. At present he is a BAETE board member.
