Prof. Dr. Engr. Mihir Ranjan Halder

Prof. Dr. Engr. Mihir Ranjan Halder has been the Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) since September 04, 2022. He obtained his B.Sc. Eng. degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh in 1982, and a M.Sc. degree from University of Strathclyde, UK in 1991. He was awarded a PhD in the field of Mechanical Engineering (Liquid Fuel Atomization)from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India in 2002.

After graduation, he started his career as Director at Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Rajshahi (currently known as RUET) in 1984. Later, he joined as a Lecturer in the Bangladesh Institute of Technology,Khulna (currently known as KUET) in 1986. He became Assistant Professor in 1987 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2002 and Professor in 2004.

Prof. Halder has been involved in teaching and research. He also served as Provost of Lalan Shaha Hall of residence, KUET, from 2004 to 2006 and Amar Ekushey Hall of residence, KUET, from 2008 to 2010. He was a Head, Department of Energy Technology, KUET (2007 - 2008); Department of Mechanical Engineering, KUET (2010 - 2011), Department of Energy Technology, KUET (March -Sep. 2012), Department of Textile Engineering, KUET (2012 - 2016) and Department of chemical Engineering, KUET (2018 - 2022). He was Syndicate member, RUET from 2015 to 2018 and from 2016 to 2016. Prof. Halder was a Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, KUET, from 2016 to 2018.

Prof. Halder’s research interests included but not limited to (i) Modeling of swirl Nozzles, (ii) Numerical and Experimental study on household aerosol, (iii) Numerical modeling and experimental study on Thermo-Fluid fields, (iv) Numerical modeling and experimental study on Refrigeration, Air conditioning and Ventilation fields. He has published a lot of technical papers in journals and international conference proceedings. He has successfully supervised a lot of undergraduate and graduate theses.

Prof. Halder has a computer proficiency in various CFD softwares: PHOENICS, COMMET/STAR CD, AUTOCAD. He is much familiar with various models of turbulent quantities: k-a, RNG, etc. He is a Life Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), No. F-12676.
