Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Mizanur Rahman

Dr. Engr. Md. Mizanur Rahman is a Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at BUET. He has 24 years of teaching experience in traffic engineering, pavement design, traffic management, construction management, and transportation planning and road safety. He earned his PhD in 2004 from Yokohama National University, Japan, in the field of traffic flow theory. Earlier, he earned a BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Transportation Engineering, from BUET. Dr. Rahman has published more than 50 articles in international journals and conferences. His current research interests are in modeling of urban air and noise pollution from road traffic, energy conservation strategies for Bangladesh, suitability of the ETC system in Bangladesh, sustainable urban transport systems, and road safety improvement. As a one of the consulting experts at BUET, he has participated extensively in various consultancy positions on transportation engineering projects of the RHD, LGED, DTCA, BBA, CAAB, RAJUK, BR Dhaka North and the South City Corporation for 24 years and contributed to national development works. He is currently the Director of the Directorate of Students’ Welfare, BUET. Previously, he was local council member of Dhaka Centre and Vice Chairman of the Civil Engineering Division, IEB. The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh has also entrusted him with the responsibility of membership on its various committee.
